MIJAS – BENALMÁDENA

The visit will begin with a breakfast in Mijas, a town full of white houses, located in the region of Costa del Sol, specifically in the hillside of Sierra de Mijas, which was first occupied by the Phoenicians in 900 BC and, then, by the Romans in the second century and the Arabs and Berbers in the eighth century, until it was finally conquered by the Catholic Monarchs in 1487.

We will visit the old town, which was declared Historic-Artistic Site, the viewpoint and the hermitage Ermita de la Virgen de la Peña, the church Iglesia de la Inmaculada Concepción, the old Arabian fortress and its ancient walls, and the hermitage Ermita de San Antón.

After that, we will eat lunch in a typical local restaurant in Benalmádena, a touristic town located in the region of Costal del Sol. We will visit the lookout towers Torre Muelle, Torrequebrada and Torre Bermeja, the Estupa de la Iluminación (a Buddhist monument), the castle Castillo Colomares and the square Plaza de España.
