VISIT 28

Casares – Gaucín – Genalguacil (Valle del genal)

The visit will begin with a breakfast in Casares, a white town of Arabian layout declared a Historic-Artistic Site. We will visit the medieval castle, where some towers and fragments of the old wall are still preserved, the birth house of the Spanish politician Blas Infante and the Archaeological Museum.

Next, we will set a course for Gaucín, one of the white towns built by the Romans, but where the Arabs left their mark.

We will go for a walk in the streets and visit the convents and monasteries of the town, as well as and the Roman castle Castillo del Águila, dated from 914, whose name comes from the presence of eagles in the area.

Our last destination will be Genalguacil, a small town located in the heart of the region of Genal valley and whose urban area maintains the same old Moorish layout. We will also visit the Museum of Contemporary Art and, then, we will eat lunch in a typical local restaurant.
